Attempting to pick up the pieces of one’s life after a divorce is complex, confusing, and often heartbreaking. People wonder about a number of issues. Does the church still care about them? The answer is a resounding YES! A hallmark of Christ’s ministry was His identification with those who are hurting and suffering: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” One might add, “I was divorced and you still cared about me and you did not abandon me.” The church wants to help in the process of healing after divorce. We who are involved in ministry to the divorced are called to help them experience the charity and healing of Christ, the Divine Physician. We welcome you with charity, kindness, and mercy!
Who Should Attend?
The Sacred Steps Meeting will take place twice a month with a focus on spiritual healing and growth through education, reflection on scriptures and church teachings on the 2nd Friday, and small group discussions on the 4th Friday. Together as divorced Catholics, we will be on a spiritual journey as we experience the Sacred Steps to Peace. We will use each step as a blessed stepping stone as we explore the way to find Jesus in the Gospels, the teachings of the church, spiritual exercises, practical skills, prayer and discussions. We invite you to open your heart, mind and soul as you become a Sacred Steps pilgrim journeying with us. Each “station” that we visit is a series of steps towards healing the wounds of your heart and to help lead your life in a new direction towards a spiritual renewal. These stations will serve as resting places to refresh your weary spirits and to embrace the search for spiritual transformation. As a pilgrim traveling with us in each Sacred Steps Meeting, our goal for you is to be renewed and transformed in Christ through His resurrection and our healing.
